About

I received my Ph.D. in sociology and history in 1984 and have been teaching full time in higher education since 1985. I was a research assistant (and M.A. student) from 1978-1980 and a teaching assistant (and Ph.D. student) from 1980-1984. My specializations are in the sociology of religion, social theory, and clinical sociology. Currently, I am developing a new area in public sociology with a focus on autistic activism and self-advocacy.

My undergraduate studies (A.A./Associate in Arts and A.B.J./Bachelor of Arts in Journalism) were in magazine journalism, English, and sociology. As a journalist, my principal work lies, presently, in the field advocacy journalism. More precisely, I advocate on human rights and social justice issues, particularly for autistics.
